GIS/Laser Safety SME

Serves as company expert, provides and coordinates complex research/data analysis, systems design, programming, and support of computer-based GIS/GPS (Geographic Information Systems/Global Positioning Systems) mapping and related statistical software. Performs complex, integrated computer programming, data analysis, and software development for GIS applications, to include maintenance of existing systems and research/development for future enhancements. Designing and carrying out GIS procedures, both simple and complex; Performing AML programming for data creation, analysis, project reporting, data conversion, data transfer, and graphic production; Compiling and integrating cartographic data from a wide variety of sources for inclusion in map manuscripts; Creating and editing geospatial data using GPS and digitizing techniques; Creating and editing maps, integrating a range of data formats, and using state-of-the-art technology; Interfacing and serving as a liaison with clients in the servicing of special requests and operational issues, as they arise; Leading, training, and supervising the technical staff, as appropriate, in carrying out GIS analytical procedure; Maintaining currency of knowledge with respect to relevant state-of-the-art technology, equipment, and/or systems; Knowledge and understanding of integrated GIS/GPS principles, systems, and technologies. Advanced computer programming, data analysis, and software development skills. Ability to utilize and macro-program in SAS, ARC/INFO, and/or comparable statistical/analystical programs. Proposal and grant writing skills. Knowledge of cartographic principles and standards. Ability to evaluate and interpret end user information requirements, and to develop appropriate systems and/or applications solutions. Knowledge of project management principles, practices, techniques, and tools. Knowledge of geographic, statistical, mathematical, and computer science theory, methodology, applications. Requires ten to twelve years experience in the application of GIS/GPS technology. Knowledge of geography, concepts of spatial analysis, computer programming, land management, map design, digital image processing, and coordinate geometry.
Proficiency with Applications to include (but not limited to) ESRI ArcView, Airspace, DWG TrueView , Adobe Professional X Pro, Google Earth Pro, MS Word 2010, MS Excel 2010, MS Access 2010, and MS PowerPoint 2010 (or newer versions of any of this software).
certifications or ability to obtain within 3 months of hire: Navy/MC Technical Laser Safety Officer, and Navy/MC Range Laser Safety Specialist DoD Secret Clearance (can start with Interim)
Ability to travel on military aircraft and vehicles and work in rough terrain.
