Job Responsibilities

ActioNet is looking for a Web Developer/Content administrator to support the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy at our headquarters in Kings Point, New York.

The purpose of this position is to create and renew content and navigation patterns for the following digital platforms: the Academy’s general web site, campus intranet web site, library web site, general/campus athletics web site, general/campus waterfront activities web site, and other portal web sites.

The candidate will create and maintain web site graphics, narrative content, site and page structure reflecting Web 2.0 standards for XHTML, JavaScript, and cascading style sheet (CSS). All web sites shall comply with federal accessibility standards, transmit and receive personal identification information using SSL, and support the most recent versions of web browsers from Microsoft, Firefox, Apple, and Opera. Where possible, web pages shall display and properly operate on personal computers and cellular phones equipped with web browsers.

This position is approximately 25% design, 75% development.

Skills Required

The successful candidate will combine strong hands-on development in XHTML, JavaScript, Team Foundation server, SharePoint and Drupal.  Must be able to administer and implement technical solutions that leverage SharePoint. A strong familiarity with SQL, C# and Java is a plus.

• 4+ years of designing and implementing Web pages and web-based applications
• 4+ years of SharePoint site, master pages, layouts, templates, web parts, content types, workflows, branding, navigation, designing applications
• Working experience with developing government websites; 508 compliance
• Working experience in government environment utilizing NIST and FISMA
• Working experience with IIS and Apache, web analytics  
• User Interface design experience and excellent Adobe Photoshop skills
• Strong XHTML, SHTML, XSL, XSLT,CAML, JavaScript, .NET experience
• Experience with various Content Management Systems
• Demonstrated ability to quickly and accurately translate user requirements from     traders into technical deliverables with minimal oversight from product managers and limited documentation of business requirements and functional specifications 
• Demonstrated ability to provide tier-2 support in a professional manner 
• Thorough, efficient and detail-oriented, takes initiative and is self-directed.
• Excellent interpersonal, organizational and communication (written, verbal, and presentation) skills.
• Team player; willing and able to drive collaborative efforts across the organization to improve product quality, reduce expense, and increase productivity

Skills Preferred
Four year degree in Computer Science or related field required
ITIL v3 foundation certification  
Demonstrated knowledge of PMI  
Working experience in a government environment
